YOUTH PROGRAM HOSTING NEEDS

WorldChicago seeks volunteer host families for international high school students and mentors coming to Chicago on U.S. Department of State-sponsored short-term exchange programs.

This is a unique (and fun!) opportunity to learn about cultures from around the world, and to share a little of your own culture and hospitality. Our engaged students and adult mentors are eager to experience everyday life in the United States by staying with a host family. Past exchange participants report that the most enriching part of their program is the home stay portion.

Home hosts provide guests with a bed, breakfast, and most dinners. Youth will participate in program activities weekdays from approximately 9 to 5, with evenings and weekends free to spend with you. WorldChicago provides ground transportation, lunches, cellphones, and all program fees. Families are invited to enjoy program celebrations and other fun activities. Host siblings are also invited to join in program activities as space allows.

This summer, we are excited welcome youth from Bolivia, China, Ecuador, India, Iraq, Mexico, Pakistan, Peru, the United Kingdom, and eight countries across Africa: Angola, Cameroon, Ghana, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, and Tanzania. The programs — ranging from 5 days to two weeks — focus on civic engagement, leadership, diversity, and community service, with sub-themes such as youth entrepreneurship, violence and bullying prevention, exploring community through arts, and teen health.

Pan-Africa Youth Leadership Program: Entrepreneurship - 24 students, 2 adult mentors (in each group)

Group 2: June 5–13

Group 3: October 2-10 (Francophone-prefer at least one French speaker in the home)

ADULT PROGRAM HOSTING NEEDS

WorldChicago arranges professional programs and local homestays for international emerging and mid-career leaders coming to Chicago on short-term exchanges. Homestay hosts provide visitors with a bed, breakfast, and most dinners. Visitors participate in meetings, trainings, and/or fellowships weekdays from about 9 to 5. Evenings and weekends are mostly left free. Hosting stipends are available for some programs.

National Council for International Visitors Announces Name Change to Global Ties U.S.

International Visitor Leadership Program This U.S. Department of State program identifies foreign leaders in a variety of fields to visit the U.S. for 3 weeks (visiting 3-5 cities) to meet their professional counterparts, explore their thematic interest area(s), and experience America firsthand. These visitors stay in hotels.
